Extrusion and Rolling Techniques for Mg Sheets and Profiles
The research in plastic deformation processing is concentrated on special extrusion techniques for Mg profiles of large and complex cross-section, rolling and extrusion-rolling technologies of Mg sheets, and related mould design. A series of break-through have been achieved in on-line temperature control of hot rolling, side crack free rolling, streamlining design in extrusion die for Mg high-speed extrusion, and extrusion mould temperature rapid adjustment technique for large cross section profiles. The widest Mg sheets and extrusion profiles with largest thin wall cross section have been developed. Trial use of Mg sheets and profiles in luxurious coach has been explored. The extruded bumper beam for Volkswagen Automobile developed by CCMg delivered a better processing quality than its foreign counterpart.
Largest thin wall profile with a minimal thickness of 2.5mm and cross dimension of 250mm. Up to now, no profiles with comparable cross section reported worldwide
