New Mg-based Materials
The research of the institute focuses to the characterization of structure and properties of Mg alloys, mechanism of plastic deformation and strengthening and toughening, plastic deformation process analysis, research and development of new magnesium alloys with high strength, high plasticity and/or heat resistance, ultra-light alloys and magnesium based functional materials, and construction of magnesium database. There is a solid foundation on Mg strengthening and toughening theory, mechanism of high plastic deformability and heat resistance, and magnesium database construction. A lot of new magnesium alloys with low cost or containing rare earth elements have been developed.
