At the invitation of Director Pan Fu-sheng, Prof. Fritz Phillipp and Prof. Nengyun Jin-Phillipp, the world-known electron microscopy experts in electron microscopy center of Max Planck Institute of Metal Research in Stuttgart(Germany) took a five-day exchange visit to CCMG in Chongqing University, on October 14-18 2010.
Prof. Fritz Phillipp and Prof. Nengyun Jin-Phillipp are Senior Research Scientist in electron microscopy center of Max Planck Institute of Metal Research. They are long-term commited into researching defects and nano-structures of metals, ceramics and semiconductor materials by using advanced transmission electron microscopy equipment and technology, and built collaborative research with the University of California, Nagoya University, Tokyo University, China Science and Technology University and other units.
During the meeting, the director of CCMG Prof. Pan Fu-sheng and deputy director Prof. Zhang Dingfei meet with German guests. Director Prof. Pan Fusheng welcomed the visiting electron microscopy experts, accompanied them to visit the exhibition room of CCMG. Director Pan introduced the basic organization of magnesium alloy materials and R & D of CCMG and hoped that two sides should strengthen coordination and cooperation. Prof. Fritz Phillipp spoke highly of the great research results of CCMG, and urged that both sides have good prospects for cooperation and working together to promote the application of advanced electron microscopy in the magnesium alloy. On 15 October, Prof. Fritz Phillipp and Prof. Nengyun Jin-Phillipp presented three wonderful academic reports entitled ‘Advanced Analysis of Materials and Processes By / In-Situ / Transmission Electron, Microscopy’, ‘Transmission Electron, Microscopy of Nanomaterials and Nanostructures’ and ‘Electron, Tomography’. About 100 teachers, Ph.D. and graduate students participated the forum. Participants expressed strong interest on the reports, and performed further and expand academic exchange and discussion with two experts.
