CCMg Feb 4, 2016

The 1st National Magnesium Alloy Young Scientists Academic Conference and Founding Meeting of National Magnesium Alloy Young Scientists Committee was held Feb. 04, 2016 CCMg On Jan. 8-10, 2016, the first National Magnesium Alloy Young Scientists Academic Conference and the Founding Conference of National Magnesium Alloy Young Scientists Committee, hosted by Magnesium Alloy Branch of Chinese Materials Research Society (C-MRS) and organized by Harbin Engineering University, was held in Harbin.

Young scholars from nearly 50 universities and research institutes research in magnesium alloy and representatives from enterprises attended the meeting. Five experts, including Prof. Xiaoqin Zeng, from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Prof. Huiyuan Wang, from Jilin University, Prof. Xianhua Chen, from CCMg of Chongqing University, Prof. Qiuming Peng, from Yanshan University, and Dr. Xiaobo Chen from Monash University, shared the latest research achievements in their respective fields at the conference. More than 130 young scholars conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on basic theories of magnesium alloys, improvement and enhancement of magnesium alloy properties, surface treatment of magnesium alloys and medical magnesium alloys, and etc. The key technical issues of magnesium alloy, including preparation, processing and surface treatment, were discussed in depth, and the application status and development prospects of magnesium alloy in aerospace, automobile, railway and other high-tech fields were discussed.

Under the support of Prof. Pan (Chairman of Magnesium Alloy Branch of C-MRS, director of National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys), National Magnesium Alloy Young Scientists Committee was established during the conference. Prof. Rui-zhi Wu from Harbin Engineering University was elected as the director of the Young Scientists Committee, and Prof. Xian-hua Chen and Prof. Yun-chang Xin from Chongqing University were elected as deputy directors of the first Young Scientists committee.
