The 20th annual meeting of National Magnesium Branch and the 2017 National Magnesium Industry Conference were held in Weihai, Shandong on Oct. 11-13, 2017. The conference was hosted by Magnesium Branch of China Non-ferrous Metals Industry Association, co-organized by Shanghai Lizheng Satellite Application Technology Co.Ltd and Weihai Wanfeng Magnesium Technology Development Co.Ltd.

On Oct. 11, the second board meeting of the fourth session was held, and the board members voted to approve the decision that Jinxiang Xu resign of the Chairman of the Magnesium Branch of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, and Ruhai Lin is being the chairman of the Magnesium Branch. Xianjun Wen, vice chairman of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, Wei Zhang, the deputy mayor of Weihai city, Dawei Jing, director of raw Materials Division of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ruhai Lin, chairman of the Magnesium Branch, Prof. fusheng Pan, director of National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys and Prof. Enhou Han, dean of Shenyang division of Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Jinxiang Xu, former chairman of the Magnesium Branch of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.

Xianjun Wen made an opening speech. He pointed out that the abundant magnesium resources is the biggest advantage of the development of the magnesium industry, and hoped that magnesium industry strengthen the exchanges and cooperation, strengthen the technological innovations, promote the supply-side structural reform of magnesium industry, promote the industrial progress and transform the resource advantage into industrial advantage.

In Dawei Jing' speech, he pointed out that magnesium alloy is an important strategy of new materials and promoting the application of magnesium alloys in China is important. Raw materials department of the ministry of industry will continue to support the development of magnesium industry, advance the key technology level of magnesium alloys and promote the application of the magnesium alloy in large scale.

Prof. Pan delivered a plenary presentation with title "the development of magnesium alloy and technological and the projects in the field of magnesium alloy sponsored by the National Key Research and Development Program of China in the 13th Five-Year Plan", mainly introduced the latest progress of super-high strength and ductility magnesium alloy, low cost and high performance magnesium alloy and high plasticity magnesium alloy, the magnesium alloy technology development, such as extrusion, rolling, forging, residual stress elimination and surface protection, the projects in the field of magnesium alloy sponsored by the National Key Research and Development Program of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

Prof. Xianhua Chen from National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys of Chongqing University also attended the conference.
