The preparatory meeting for conclusion of the National Key Research and Development Project of deformed magnesium alloy was successfully held

On January 26, 2021, the preparatory meeting for conclusion of the National Key Research and Development (R&D) Project "key technology for manufacturing large-size high-performance deformed processing materials of magnesium alloys", led by Chongqing University, was successfully held via a combination of online and offline meeting. The offline meeting was set up in Chongqing University, and the online meeting used Tencent Meeting. Project leader, academician Fusheng Pan, and project consultant, Prof. Xiaodong Peng of Chongqing University, attended this meeting. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Xianhua Chen of Chongqing University.

The National Key R&D Project is integrated from the original National Key Basic R&D Program (973 Program), National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program), National Science and Technology Support Program, International Science and Technology Cooperation and Exchange Program, Industrial Technology R&D Funds and Public Welfare Industry Research Special Program. The key R&D projects mainly focus on the R&D of major social public welfare research that is related to the people's livelihood. It also emphasizes on the strategic, fundamental and prospective major scientific issues, and major common key technologies and products that are related to the core competitiveness of industries, overall independent innovation capability and national security. Participants included the subject leader and more than 90 representatives of the project's participating institutions, including Chongqing University, Institute of metal research (Chinese Academy of Sciences), Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanxi Yinguang Huasheng Magnesium Co. Ltd., Beijing University of Technology, Northeastern University, Harbin Institute of Technology, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Central South University, Zhengzhou University, Jilin University, North University of China, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Northeast Light Alloy Co. Ltd., Western Titanium Technologies Co. Ltd., China Baowu Iron and Steel Group Co. Ltd., Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. Ltd., Shanghai Aerospace Equipments Manufacturer General Factory, and Shanghai Institute of Satellite Engineering.

Prof. Xianhua Chen firstly introduced the main participants and the purpose & importance of this meeting. Prof. Wenbo Du of Beijing University of Technology, Prof. Jingfeng Wang of Chongqing University, Prof. Jie Dong of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Prof. Qiqi Le of Northeastern University, and Researcher Yang Yansheng of Institute of metal research (Chinese Academy of Sciences) reported on the overall implementations of these five subjects. The experts consulted and discussed the problems in the summary of the implementation of these five subjects. They fully communicated with the research team of these subjects, and made valuable comments and suggestions on the subjects to meet the final acceptance.

Subsequently, on behalf of the project management office, Prof. Xianhua Chen reported the next specific work arrangement and the requirements of the comprehensive performance evaluation of this project. Finally, Prof. Fusheng Pan gave a detailed summary of the meeting, fully affirmed the research outcomes achieved by each subject. He put forward specific requirements on the communications and coordination among each subject, the refinement of representative research highlights, the specification of technical outcome statistics, and the preparation of materials for the final acceptance.
