On January 26, 2021, the 2nd meeting of the 2nd council of Chinese Committee for Magnesium and its Application (CCMA), Chinese Materials Research Society (C-MRS), was successfully held through a combination of offline and online meeting. The offline meeting was set in National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys (CCMG) of Chongqing University, online meeting used Tencent meeting. The meeting was hosted by CCMA and organized by CCMG, Chongqing University. More than 90 associate members and research experts attended the meeting, coming from Chongqing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Institute of metal research (Chinese Academy of Sciences), Northeastern University, Central South University, Zhengzhou University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Jilin University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing University of Technology, Taiyuan University of Technology, Xiamen University, Harbin Engineering University, North University of China, Chongqing Academy of Science and Technology, Chongqing Yuhua New Materials Co. Ltd., Shanxi Yinguang Huasheng Magnesium Co. Ltd. Beijing Satellite Factory, The 38th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, and the 5th Institute of Aerospace 518 of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. Prof. Fusheng Pan (Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, chairman of Chongqing Association of Science and Technology, vice chairman of China Society for Materials Research, director of CCMA and the editor-in-chief of Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA)), attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Jingfeng Wang (vice chairman of CCMA and the secretary of the party committee in the college of Materials Science and Engineering, Chongqing University).

Prof. Jingfeng Wang firstly delivered a speech to welcome all council members and representatives to the meeting, thanked them for their long-term support to the work of the Society. He briefly explained the main purpose and agenda of this council meeting. Prof. Wenbo Du (Vice Director of CCMA, professor in Beijing University of Technology) summarized the work of the Council in 2020. Subsequently, the meeting discussed to add Prof. Zhimin Zhang (chief scientist of National Defense 973 technology, professor of North University of China) as the deputy director of CCMA. Prof. Xiaodong Peng (executive deputy editor-in-chief of JMA journal) introduced the development status of JMA, the publication, promotion, platform construction of the journal, etc. and the JMA 2020 awards, including the best paper, excellent paper, excellent editorial board and excellent reviewers.
The meeting held a lively discussion on the work plan of the Council for 2021. The Vice President Prof. Shaokang Guan of Zhengzhou University, Prof. Guohua Wu of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Researchers Yansheng Yang and Rongshi Chen of Institute of metal research (Chinese Academy of Sciences), Prof. Wenbo Du of Beijing University of Technology, Prof. Chuming Liu of Central South University, Prof. Zhimin Zhang of North University of China, Prof. Gaowu Qin of Northeastern University, secretary general Huan Xi from ISO magnesium and magnesium alloy International Standardization Committee, Prof. Zhiwei Shan of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Asia technical director Zisheng Zhen of Magontec Xi'an Co., Ltd and other people delivered some suggestions, including on how to strengthen the contact and cooperation between CCMA and the magnesium industry associations, promote the popularization of magnesium alloy. They discussed in depth on how to solve the problems faced by magnesium alloy engineering applications, and take the part of CCMA in the link between universities, research institutes and leading enterprises. Some constructive suggestions were proposed. In the conclude marking, Prof. Fusheng Pan strengthened the requirements for the work of the council with the respects of innovative academic exchange work, increasing the efforts of popularization of science, promoting the solution of bottleneck problems in the field of magnesium and the organization of top Think Tanks.
